Farmers from andean valleys of Ancash, Apurimac, Ayacucho, Cusco and Huancavelica will export their fruit.
(Agraria.pe) Peruvian minister of Agriculture, Jorge Montengro, announced the last week that small Peruvian producers of andean valleys began exporting Hass avocado to Chile.
SAG Chile (the sanitary service of that country) published a document appointing the extention of of producing zones of avocado in Peru with Access to the Chilean market.
This information was received by Senasa Peru, a department of the Peruvian Ministry of Agriculture as a final point to agreements started in 2015.
This way, small producers from Ancash, Apurimac, Ayacucho, Cusco and Huancavelica, will be able to join the exporting chain of the fruit in a market with a potential 18 million consumers with an average consumption of 8 kilograms per person.
The Peruvian Senasa will take care of the certified shipments fullfilling all standars of dry matter requiered by the importer nation. In coordination with ProHass (Peruvian Association of Hass Avocado Producers) it will implement a rigorous certification process.
The current working plan, subscribed by the end of 2013 between SAG Chile and Senasa Peru just allowed exportation of Hass avocado from other regions such as La Libertad, Lima, Arequipa, Moquegua and Tacna.
With the new agreement, small producers of the peruvian highlands will export Hass avocado in the hope to consolidate this market with the coordinated work of producers, collectors, exporters and importers.
SAG Chile stated on this matter that will update its website with the phytosaniry requierements for exportation of Hass avocado from Peru.
